The United States Department of Energy officially recognized the Greater Long Island Clean Cities Coalition (GLICCC) as the 51st Clean City organization in the United States on October 18, 1996. In late 2000, GLICCC entered into a joint-operations agreement and became a clean air program at the Long Island Forum for Technology, (LIFT) in Bayshore, NY.

The Greater Long Island Clean Cities Coalition (GLICCC) is part of a 15-year-old, U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Clean Cities sponsored program that boasts close to 90 chapters nationwide. GLICCC’s mission and passion is to increase the public’s awareness and use of Alternative Fuels and Alternative Fuel Vehicles (AFVs) while decreasing our regional and national dependency on foreign oil.
