A Letter From the ChairWelcome to the Greater Long Island Clean Cities Coalition (GLICCC) website, which we have recently updated and enhanced to provide increased user value. Here at GLICCC, we are a program of the Long Island Forum of Technology (LIFT) and are a valuable resource to improve our environment and national energy security through the implementation of clean fuel transportation solutions. You have already taken a very important step by visiting our website. But I hope this is just the beginning for you. As a program under the federal Department of Energy, we pride ourselves as one of the premier coalitions in the United States. Either as an individual, manufacturer, service provider, fuel provider, university and/or municipality, we have many members, which we call “stake holders” with expertise in a variety of alternative fuels including bio diesel, electric, electric hybrids, compressed natural gas (CNG), hydrogen and ethanol. All entities small, medium and large sized are welcome to participate! We can assist you to implement clean fuel vehicle solutions, help you to improve your fuel economy and assist you in understanding the benefits of fuel blends. One of the key benefits of our Coalition is the leveraging of relationships among key stake holders and the ability to qualify for the use of Congestion Mitigation Air Quality (CMAQ) funds to help make the economic case for implementing clean fuel vehicle solutions. Hopefully, you attended our annual alternative fuel vehicle conference called, “Advancing the Alternative Fuel Choice – The Green Transportation Alternative” held at Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale on October 24, 2008. It was the best conference in 12 years – expert speakers and panelists, varied vehicle exhibits, company displays and a huge amount of networking and relationship building. We held our first 9-hole golf outing in the after the conference which was enjoyed by many. Thanks again to our sponsors, speakers and all attendees that made this an awesome event. Mark your calendars for thies year’s Advancing the Alternative Fuel Choice event at Bethpage State Park on Friday, October 23, 2009. Sincerely, Ronald J. Gulmi |
