GLICCCC's Mission
To achieve energy independence by reducing the need for foreign fuels, to reduce emissions with alternative fuel vehicles, electric vehicles and alternative fuels as defined by both the Energy Policy Act and the Clean Air Act; and to promote economic growth by developing the alternative fuel and Electric Vehicle marketplace.
Reduce dependence on foreign fuels
Promote the use of heavy-duty and light-duty AFV’s and EV’s in both public and private fleets to reduce dependence on petroleum-based fuels and to ensure that there is public fueling infrastructure and charging stations in place to support these vehicles. Increase fuel production in local areas
Work with local economic development offices to help create biofuel production and renewable fuel facilities in our ozone non-attainment area. This will cut down fuel costs and add to the local economy. Support alternative fuel electric vehicle legislation and policies
Work with county, state, and federal governments to support legislation to promote and support alternative fuel and electric vehicle programs as consistent with Not-For-Profit law and U.S. DOE guidelines |
Reduce emissions and improve air quality
Reduce emissions with alternative fuels and EV’s as defined by EPAct and the Clean Air Act. This includes promoting new cutting-edge technologies, such as idle reduction, car share that will enhance air quality with cleaner burning fuels (such as CNG, biodiesel, and grain-based alcohols), cleaner burning engines heavy-duty Plug-in hybrid and All Electric vehicles and other innovations that will enhance air quality. Increase public outreach and education
Increase public outreach and education about alternative fuels and other new technologies to achieve energy independence, reduce emissions and promote economic development. Work with other like-minded groups and establish media contacts. For example, Drive Electric Long Island and Clean Air Northeast Partners. Secure funding
Work with all various funding sources to secure funding for alternative fuel and electric vehicle programs, vehicles, and new energy efficient technologies. |

The role
The board encourages active engagement within a community. This involvement not only benefits the individual but also contributes to the overall vibrancy and health of the community.
In essence, sharing boards creates a dynamic environment where knowledge flows freely, connections are made, and everyone can grow personally and professionally. It's a two-way street where both contributors and consumers benefit from the exchange of information and ideas.
